My name is Jonathan Moon. I am an American filmmaker who was born in Vienna, Austria and grew up primarily in Dallas, Texas. I am a recent graduate of Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinema-Television. I am an aspiring film & TV producer who is passionate about all things media-related. I am most useful in video production and editing, but also enjoy audio and photography in my pastime.
Ever since I was a young child, I have always enjoyed technology and pushing every button I could find. At the age of fourteen, I began to realize my passion for media because of my fascination with music and technology. My first interaction with production began at my church when I started observing an audio engineer mix the worship music for the services. Over the years, I learned to mix for recordings, monitors, and eventually, front-of-house sound. Through my interest in audio, I developed relationships with the video production staff and became more interested in video and photography. After I graduated from high school, I had a clear understanding of what wanted to study.
I have had the privilege of learning from several great mentors and I am extremely grateful for the wide variety of employment opportunities I have had to develop my skills in media. After beginning my higher education in the Cinema-Television program at SMU, I was an intern at Igniter Media for two years—a company that produces church media resources. I have worked in Marketing and Sales for Apple, Inc., and I have worked on the sound crew, as a Production Assistant, and as an Engineer’s Assistant for ESPN. Additionally, I worked as a Media Consultant for professors at SMU, teaching and equipping them to enhance their classroom experience with technology. I am currently working as the Video Producer and Video Team Leader for Bent Tree Bible Fellowship—a 4,000+ person church in Carrollton, Texas. My goal in filmmaking is to create innovative media that leaves every audience full of hope and joy.
